I get asked about my wreaths all the time. How did I get started? Well, I actually got started right after I was married. And I was still in college. Of course I was broke, so I only made one or two for myself. And that was it! That was my big start. I just waited until my husband gave me the green light to purchase supplies for my local hobby lobby a few months ago, and it took off.
I absolutely love being creative. And some thing about making a wreath just makes me feel full, and vibrant, and enthusiastic, and inspired. If I start off my day with being creative, it’s like I have a whole new day ahead of me. I don’t know what it is, but I found by little niche in life that makes me feel fulfilled.
I started selling my wreaths so that I could Keep being creative in my own home and afford going to Hobby lobby!
I have no training in floral design, or really any design, but there is something about it that drives me to keep trying. Until at least I like my finished product. If I don’t feel a sense of pride… it basically just sits in my craft room until I fix it!
Each Wreath takes around three hours from start to finish. Now it’s faster if I already have all the materials selected, inside my house, sectioned off according to the wreath I’m going to make, and if I streamline everything.
My goal is to make every Daisy Mae Decor Roy Wreath unique, and so to do that, they are handmade only by me. And they can vary, that’s what makes them unique.
So many of my customers want Reese that are just a little bit different from other customers. And I love the variance.
So far this year, I have done spring wreaths, summer, and fall wreaths, and… Maybe even Christmas is coming your way!
I have learned a lot and selling my wreaths. First, I learned I’m a perfectionist. I think I can think both my mom and my dad for those genes. I also have learned that I like high-quality materials, and I can’t settle for anything less. I like selling high-quality things. I like knowing that it’s going to last. I like knowing that I don’t have to worry about my customers wreaths in a windstorm.
I also learned that I love giving away wreaths! And let’s just say that doesn’t really help my business. All the pay wreaths are very high quality, and that also means expensive! But in all seriousness, my hope is that one day, I will be able to have the means to give away a wreath every month. I love giving. And I love seeing someone’s face light up with this little wreath I’ve made.
It sure is fun driving around town, and seeing my beautiful Reese on other peoples front porches. I love admiring other peoples creativity as they decorate for all the seasons on the front porch.
I really think that a Wreath is the first thing that can be inviting at your front door. Perhaps it’s not in your cards to decorate your whole porch. Maybe you don’t have a front porch. And that’s OK! I reef can really set the tone for your door. And, not to mention it can increase the value of your home 😉
Wreaths can range in all sorts. It depends on what you’re looking for, what you’re budget allows, and the long you want to keep and reuse your wreath. I’ll share more about that later.
But I can assure you that you don’t have to be an expert to make one. 🙂
Happy Homemaking!

Kelsie Ann
