It’s September 1st! Hurray! If you haven’t put out your fall decor already, today’s date gives you great reason to! I have had mine up since August 1st, but we won’t go there. Don’t judge me please!
One thing I have not gotten out yet for fall are my children’s fall books! I have been waiting until today to get them out!
Although I am not the most avid reader at this point in my life, I have picked up a love of children’s books. I have learned to really enjoy reading to my little one.
As part of the Kiddie Corner, I like to plan with the seasons and holidays, I also like to incorporate books relative to the seasons as well. Of course, I mix in books with current discoveries and interests, such as construction, or cars & trucks, etc.
With school in session now, and the morning air a little cooler, I have been getting my fall book list ready. I am excited to share with you all as well! I started my fall book collection last year, and even though they are simple books, I will pull them out again this year for my now toddler.
I store my seasonal books in my decoration totes with other kiddie corner toys/objects that go along with that season. It makes it much easier for someone like me who has to go to a storage unit for anything. This way, everything is together in a plastic tote, and I am not sending my husband on a wild chase for things in our crowded storage unit. I will share more on how we organize all that in a future blog post!
Having the books and small toys in the decorating totes has made decorating a little easier because my son will see those first and won’t bother my decor for a little bit while I set things up! And that’s just the first win 🙂
What I love about starting seasonal book collections is that you absolutely can start small! Last year I purchased 3 fall related books. This year I will likely do just a few as well! I have had a few people ask me where I get my books for my kiddie corner, and honestly I get them from Amazon! I don’t live near a Wal-mart or Target, and Amazon has no order minimum. So often if I just need something I find it on Amazon first. They do great with their shipping, and rarely do they get delayed.
Even though these books are intended for my kiddie corner space, I do mix them up and move them around my house. For instance, I will rotate 1-2 of these seasonal books on his bookshelf in the playroom, and then I will have a few in my living room as part of his kiddie corner.
When Daddy comes home from work, or while I am waiting on something in the kitchen, my son will usually pull a book or two from this kiddie corner and we will read together. These are different than the books in his playroom, or the books we read before naptime. So he is usually eager to show me new objects or characters because they’re new to him!
I also will grab a seasonal book on my outings to church or doctor appointments as well. Because they are seasonal, for some reason my son really likes to point out the details on each page. This helps keep him engaged a little longer as we learn new words and he excitedly points out objects he’s learning to recognize, such as pumpkin or leaf.
Below I created a list of board books for fall for babies & toddlers. I hope these will be a great addition to your kiddie corner or seasonal book stash! Enjoy!
We are fans of Biscuit in this house! Mostly because its a puppy and my son is in love with puppies and dogs. This is one I will be adding to our library this year as well.
I am a huge fan of touch & feel books! My son has several animal ones and even though he’s had them for ages, I will rotate them back in the mix every few months. This fall one will be great, and next year baby brother will enjoy it!
This book is probably my favorite fall book, and I don’t see it being replaced anytime soon. I got this one last year! It’s adorable. And you bet it’s in my fall book collection this year!
When I saw this book, I instantly added to my cart. My son loves ducks, so I can already tell this book will be a hit. Adding books like this will be beneficial to his vocabulary and he will also have the chance to tell the difference between a duck and goose. Something we are working on 🙂
Okay friends! There you have a nice little list as you start or add to your fall board book collections this year. If you are looking for more suggestions, I have a whole list I’d be happy to share with you.
Stay tuned as I share our fall crafts and fall kiddie corner activities & toys soon! I also can’t wait for Halloween either! Those books and activities are way fun as well. Thanks so much for being part of this community and for all your support!
Xoxo,
Kelsie Ann
